27 young women recently participated in Yachad and Yeshiva University’s High School for Girls’ Annual Leadership Service Mission. The event, which was held April 7-8 at a farm and retreat in Connecticut, focused on chesed, the environment, and tikkun olam. The participants from both organizations demonstrated the unique opportunities afforded by inclusive community service experiences.
Participants met at the Queens JCC, where they helped arrange Pesach food packages for families in need. At the Isabella Freedman Jewish Retreat Center, the group learned about ecologically-friendly agriculture and got involved in the process by farming organic vegetables, composting, and helping to protect vulnerable plants and trees.
