Researchers at the Ophel excavations, located at the southern wall of the Temple Mount compound, believe that they have found the seal of the prophet Isaiah, who advised King Hezekiah some 2,700 years ago. The discovery was made by Dr. Eilat Mazar of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Because pieces of the seal are missing or damaged, positive identification cannot be made.
Mazar also raised the possibility that the seal did not belong to the prophet Isaiah, but to one of King Hezekiah’s staff members also named Isaiah.
