The Polish news website Onet has reported learning that the nation’s highest officials are not welcome at the White House thanks to the controversial, recently-passed law that limits discourse on the Holocaust. According to documents the site claims to have received, Polish President Andrzej Duda and Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki will not be received by President Donald Trump or any other member of the US administration. The US Embassy in Warsaw also threatened to suspend funding for any joint military projects between the two countries.
Bartosz Cichocki, Poland’s deputy foreign minister, denied the report. According to an AP report, Cichocki said that Washington expressed “concerns and questions” about the Polish law but that reports of White House sanctions were untrue.
The Ruderman Family Foundation, an American Jewish philanthropic organization, has launched a campaign urging the US to suspend ties with Poland because of the law limiting Holocaust dialogue.
