The recent OU West Coast Torah Convention showcased the different areas in which the OU impacts the community through its many and varied programs. The weekend highlighted OU’s national leadership, NCSY, IPA, Synagogue Services, OU Kosher, OU Press, OU Torah, JLIC, our tuition efforts, and our partnerships with such organizations as BJE, PEJE, YU and AIPAC. Highlights of the weekend included a symposium for education “grass tops” with key leaders in the field, an ASK OU kashrus event presented jointly with the RCC, shiurim from OU posek Rav Hershel Schachter and a melave malka launch of the newOU Press Koren Mesorat HaRav Siddur.
All told, the program featured 16 speakers in 11 venues, the first-ever joint program between OU Kosher and the RCC, a community oneg with 150 attendees, two melave malkas, a ioint Shabbaton with AIPAC, and much, much more. Kudos to OU West Coast Director Rabbi Alan Kalinsky, Assistant Director of OU West Coast Community and Synagogue Services Rabbi Adir Posy and all those who contributed to making the convention the resounding success that it was.
