Rabbi Steven Weil, senior managing director at the Orthodox Union, will present an OU Community Weekend at Congregation Brothers of Israel in Long Branch from Friday, August 22 to Saturday, August 23 (Shabbat Parshat Re’eh).
Led by Rabbi Nasanayl Braun, the OU member synagogue is located at 250 Park Avenue in Elberon.
Friday night, Rabbi Weil will speak during a special Shabbat family dinner at the synagogue, discussing “Transcending the Judeo-Christian Ethic.” He will give the Shabbat morning drasha at the synagogue’s 752 Ocean Avenue satellite location, presenting “In the Aftermath of the Apocalypse.” In the evening, Rabbi Weil will culminate the weekend at seudat shlishit in the synagogue’s Park Avenue location to deliver his lecture on “Responsibility.”
“Congregation Brothers of Israel is very excited to have Rabbi Weil joining us for Shabbat,” said Rabbi Braun. “Rabbi Weil is nationally recognized as an outstanding leader of the Jewish community and as a captivating and inspiring speaker. He inspired us last year with his presentations and we look forward to this year’s OU Community Weekend of learning about the issues that confront the Jewish community on a family level, nationally and internationally.”
