OU Welcomes Young Israel of Northridge as New Member Congregation

YOUNG ISRAEL OF NORTHRIDGE BECOMES OU MEMBER SYNAGOGUE

The Orthodox Union Karasick Department of Synagogue Services and OU President Martin Nachimson of Los Angeles today announced that the Young Israel of Northridge, led by Rabbi Nachi Klein, has become an official OU member congregation.

The synagogue is located at 17511 Devonshire Street.

“As the leading Orthodox synagogue in the North Valley, we are proud to be affiliated with the largest Orthodox synagogue network,” Rabbi Klein said. “Becoming part of the OU has already proven worthwhile, with the OU offering guest speakers, Shabbatonim, and Pesach shopping tours. Now with our affiliation, we are confident that our membership will benefit further with the support and resources that the OU network delivers to its affiliates.”

“It is our pleasure to welcome the YI of Northridge into the OU,” stated Rabbi Alan Kalinsky, director of the OU West Coast Region. “I take personal pride in welcoming this warm and friendly congregation into our OU family, where I recently spoke on Yom Ha’atzmaut to an overflow crowd. I would like to express special appreciation to the president of the Young Israel of Northridge, Moshe Goldsman, for spearheading the campaign to join the OU.”

The OU recently also welcomed the Young Israel of Fort Lee (NJ) and DelRay Orthodox Synagogue (FL) into its national synagogue network.

“The OU is honored to welcome the Young Israel of Northridge as a member of the OU Synagogue network,” said Yehuda Friedman, associate director of OU Synagogue Services. “Belonging to the OU links members of the Young Israel of Northridge to a national network of Orthodox congregations and provides access to the various agencies of the OU, including NCSY, Yachad/National Jewish Council for Disabilities, OU Kosher, the OU Job Board, the Institute for Public Affairs and, of course, the Department of Community and Synagogue Engagement.”

Mr. Friedman also noted, “We are proud to be recognized for the value the OU provides to the leaders of OU member synagogues through initiatives which include the WINGS synagogue consulting program; youth professionals network; board development; and presidential mentoring. We look forward to a long and productive relationship with the OU’s newest member.”
