Recap of Security Awareness Week

“The OU is grateful to partner with Secure Community Network (SCN) and the ADL on the Security Awareness Week,” said Yehuda Friedman, associate director of OU Synagogue Services | Congregation Support Network. “The goal of this national initiative is to provide synagogues and day schools with tools to strengthen their security guidelines and protocols.”

Patrick Daly, SCN deputy director, stated, “SCN is proud to participate in the Orthodox Union’s Second Annual Security Awareness Week next month. This recurring, annual event is a testament to the OU’s commitment to the safety and security of the Jewish community. The scheduled events throughout the week will equip individuals with the knowledge to better understand current threats and enable them to contribute to safety and security of their facilities and communities.”

According to Elise M. Jarvis, ADL associate director, Law Enforcement Outreach and Communal Security Initiatives, “We are pleased to participate in Orthodox Union’s Security Awareness Week for the opportunity to provide information about the Anti-Defamation League’s security resources for the Jewish community and to underscore the importance of institutions establishing law enforcement relationships.

“Institutions are always better off when their first call to police is not an emergency 911 call, and through our network of regional offices, ADL is pleased to help facilitate communication and relationship-building between OU-affiliated institutions and our law enforcement contacts. Security awareness is a critical part of any communal institution, and we commend the OU’s efforts to heighten security awareness and consciousness.”
