OU KOSHER PASSOVER WEBSITE IS BACK ONLINE TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTIONS AND TO MAKE HOLIDAY PREPARATION EASIER AND LESS CHALLENGING
Passover is the most complex holiday on the Jewish calendar, with rules and customs — not to mention preparation — that require expertise challenging even the most knowledgeable families. However, where to turn to for help in resolving Passover-related matters is easy. It’s OU Kosher’s special website, www.oupassover.org, up and running for the sixth year.
Statistics indicate just how valuable a resource the website is. Last year, a month before the holiday began, there were 2,500 unique visitors a day, viewing 10,000 pages. Two weeks before the holiday, the total jumped to more than 4,500 visits per day and 15,000 page views. The day before Erev Pesach there were more than 10,000 unique visitors, with more than 44,000 page views; Erev Pesach produced the same 10,000 visitors with 30,000 page views. In total, last year more than 85,000 unique visitors had their Passover questions answered at oupassover.org.
Every year there are new features, including for 2011:
• The full OU Kosher Passover Guide and Directory, available for viewing and download;
• A new and improved Kosher for Passover product search;
• A new group of articles on Passover, including “Measurements of Passover,” “Searching for Chametz (Leaven)”; “Gebrokts (a forbidden mixture of matzah with liquid over the holiday) – Not Just a Half-Baked Idea”; “The Supermarket Controversy”; “What Could Be Hiding in My Romaine?” (Hint: they crawl); “What is Kitniyot (non-leavened foods which Ashkenazim do not eat during Passover) ”; “Which Foods are Chametz?”; and
• Passover guidelines.
There are also articles on kashering for Passover; healthy recipes; purging of utensils; and hints for Passover cleaning.
