Arafat Irfaiya, 29, of Hebron was arrested early on Saturday morning on suspicion of sexually assaulting and murdering Ori Ansbacher, a 19-year-old Israeli woman. Forensic evidence found at the scene of the crime connected Irfaiya to the murder. According to reports, Irfaiya reenacted the murder for authorities on Sunday morning.
The Israel Security Agency, AKA the “Shin Bet,” has said that the attack was “nationalistic” in nature. Members of Irfaiya’s family are affiliated with Hamas, though it is believed that he acted alone. It is believed he planned to claim that the murder was nationalistically motivated so that his family would receive martyr payments from the Palestinian Authority.
