Good news if you’re ever sent to Siberia. There now is a kosher restaurant.
Jokes aside, life in Siberia is far from bleak for Jews, especially in the city of Novosibirsk. The London-based Jewish Chronicle reported that the city recently opened a $5 million Jewish community center that includes a shul, a wedding hall and mikvehs for both men and women. Part of the building is even made from Jerusalem stone. There are roughly 20,000 Jews in the city and 6,000 are registered members of the Jewish community.
