In the most recent issue of Jewish Action magazine, Robert J. Avrech penned an article about what it’s like to be a successful Shomer Shabbos screenwriter in the bowels of Hollywood. He spoke about his article — and his new e-book describing his love affair with his wife, whom he met as a fourth grader in Yeshiva of Flatbush— with JewishJournal.com. In the interview, Avrech elaborates on why he doesn’t believe violence in the movies leads to violence in real life, his position on gay marriage and his thoughts on Showtime’s Homeland. (He calls the lead actor “dopey.”)
When asked what Hollywood should focus on, Avrech answers:
“[My first choice] would be Hollywood admitting that the greatest danger to civilization itself right now is jihad and jihadists. Hollywood should confront that the way they confronted the Nazi threat and the imperial Japanese threat.”
