The Jewish Press has reviewed the recent OU Press release Megillat Esther Mesorat HaRav: Commentary Based on the Teachings of Rabbi Joseph B. Soloveitchik. Reviewer Ben Rothke cites theologian Arnold Wolf, who wrote that 1,000 years from now, people will still be studying the works of Rabbi Joseph B. Soloveitchik. In recent years, OU Press has been instrumental in collecting and organizing the Rav’s thoughts on a wide variety of subjects.
In his review, Rothke singles out the introduction, by editors Rabbi Simon Posner, Rabbi Eliyahu Krakowski and Rabbi Moshe Genack, in which the Rav “astutely notes that the story of Esther tells us in the most lively, realistic fashion, with a tinge of refined yet biting sarcasm, about paradoxical, absurd events, which are both tragic and comical at the same time.” The reviewer opines that the introduction alone makes Megillat Esther Mesorat HaRav worth the purchase.
