Israel’s Iron Dome anti-missile system misfired after Hamas military exercises set off Code Red alerts. According to the IDF, at least 10 missile alerts were activated in Sderot and neighboring communities on Sunday night, activating the Iron Dome and causing it to fire unnecessary interceptors.
The alerts were triggered by a live fire exercises in Gaza being run by the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas. The IDF retaliated for what they believed to be a missile attack by striking two Hamas positions in northern Gaza with tank fire.
