A Call to Communities and Individuals for a Day of Sincere Tefillah
We urge one and all to focus – both in the morning and at Mincha –
on the Tefillah of Avinu Malkeinu
and to recite with intensity Tehillim 13, 20, 121 and 130.
On this day which commemorates the breaking of the first לוחות (Tablets);
This day when we turned from embracing G-d’s handiwork, מעשה אלקים ומכתב אלקים
And turned instead to our own creation, העגל אשר עשו.
On this day when we begin the period of mourning, when we note the onset of our national vulnerability;
And during this particular time when we have dedicated months to OUR efforts to escape disease, financial uncertainty and societal upheaval;
We must turn – as communities and as individuals – in sincere Tefillah to Hashem;
To ask HIS involvement to bring us relief from all the uncertainties and threats we face.
We place our complete trust in our Father in heaven – אין לנו להישען אלא על אבינו שבשמים
