An 11-year-old girl from Tennessee was removed from class for the rest of the school day for telling fellow students to stop making the Nazi salute.
The girl’s class at McFadden School of Excellence in Murfreesboro, TN, was assigned to portray Hitler for the school’s Living History project, which entailed making the salute. When students started making the salute all over school, she told them privately that she thought it was wrong. When students made the salute at the final rehearsal for the project, the girl shouted at them to put their hands down, leading to her removal for being “disrespectful.”
During the subsequent awards ceremony for the project, several students made the salute when the student who portrayed Hitler went up to receive her award; they were not reprimanded for doing so.
