Orthodox Communities Network

Phase I: Data Collection

Dear Rabbis, Presidents, Executive Directors:

Looking for new members?

Want to attract attention to your synagogue/community on a national OU database?

The Orthodox Communities Network (OCN) is a web-based solution aiming to attract members to your synagogue or community. The OU has begun collecting data for a new website that will enable you to showcase important information about your community’s synagogue, schools, kosher food and restaurants, mikvaot, job opportunities, community calendars, pictures and much more.

The OCN website will feature:

  • Detailed descriptions of communities in cities all across North America.
  • A search engine that can help search through communities that meet specific selection criteria.
  • A message board
  • A communities-calendar with coordinated events
  • Short videos, and pictures highlighting OU synagogues and their communities.

Phase I: Data Collection Nationwide

There are two phases in the OCN project. Phase I, which has already begun, is the registration and collection of data from numerous synagogues nationwide.  Phase II: which will begin by March, 2006, will display data of your community that will allow individuals to search for communities of their choice and view your data on the OU website.

Register your community or synagogue online

To register your community or synagogue please visit www.ou.org/ocn and fill out a simple online questionnaire that will be sent directly the Orthodox Union. An OU staff person will also be available to help guide you through the process.

Your responses will help create this vital resource, and will hopefully foster easier communication and accessibility between diverse Orthodox communities and the families who are looking to find a community in which their contribution will make a difference.

Sincerely,

Ilana Prager
