The Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations of America (OU), the nation’s largest Orthodox Jewish umbrella organization, together with the Rabbinical Council of America (RCA), condemns the terror attack on a synagogue in Jerusalem this morning that killed four rabbis.
The OU and RCA leadership stated:
“We absolutely condemn — and call upon all people of good will to condemn — this heinous attack against the “Kehilat Yaakov” synagogue in Har Nof. Targeting innocent civilians during their morning prayers reflects a complete and utter disregard for the sanctity of life and religion. By desecrating and violating one synagogue, these terrorists have desecrated and violated all synagogues; indeed every place of worship.
“We express our deepest condolences to the families of Rabbi Aryeh Kupinsky, Rabbi Avraham Shmuel Goldberg, Rabbi Kalman Levine and Rabbi Moshe Twersky, and particularly to more than two-dozen orphans who have lost their beloved fathers. The lives of others were spared, including two police officers, but some sustained serious injuries; we pray for each to merit a speedy and complete recovery.”
May God comfort the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem.
